Mission Statement

To provide training opportunities for endurance athletes in Edmonton and the greater area. The program will support the developmental needs, abilities, and individual goals of the athlete as well as capturing local talent that will help build the University of Alberta Bears and Pandas Endurance Focused Varsity program. The athletes will be supported where they are currently with the intention of building athletic capacities through progression that is determined by the coach. This will result in developing the necessary skills needed to achieve the goals outlined by the athlete and prepare them for a smooth transition to varsity level sport and to succeed in the future. The athletes will have access to appropriate training facilities and the program will run coherently with the Long Term Athlete Development model that promotes a transition from the “train to train” stage of development to the “train to compete” stage of development in a supported, healthy environment.

Club Philosophy

Provide endurance athletes the opportunity to develop athletic abilities within a program that supports physical, mental, social and overall well being. The program will promote inclusivity and foster autonomy. The athlete will be involved in the decision making that supports their needs as a person first, while achieving their athletic goals within a program that is well rounded and develops a positive sense of self worth and confidence. The club is committed to delivering a comprehensive program that challenges the athlete to improve upon their physical and tactical capabilities. The program will move progressively as the athlete displays readiness for introduction and adaptation of a new stimulus. The overall program will follow the Long Term Athlete Development Training Model’s recommendations and requirements.
